Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, or simply Chengdu Panda Base, is a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. It is located in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. Chengdu Panda Base was founded in 1987. It started with 6 giant pandas that were rescued from the wild. By 2008, it had 124 panda births, and the captive panda population has grown to 83. Its stated goal is to "be a world-class research facility, conservation education center, and international educational tourism destination."

成都大熊猫繁育基地位处成都市北郊斧头山,距市区10公里,有一条宽阔的熊猫大道与市区相连,现已成为国内开展大熊猫等珍稀濒危野生动物移地保护的主要基地之一。常年饲养有大熊猫、小熊猫、黑颈鹤、白鹳和白天鹅、黑天鹅、雁、鸳鸯及孔雀等动物。在由68300多种高等植物所构成的基地人工生态植被内栖息着野生鸟类2990多种。现在的基地,翠竹葱茏,绿树成荫,鸟语花香,空气清新,自然山野风光和优美人工景观巧妙融合,各种珍稀濒危动物在其中悠然自得地生息繁衍。

Conference participants may need a Chinese visa to enter China. Specifically, those who are not Chinese citizens, except passport holders from Singapore, Brunei, and Japan, need a Chinese visa. Participants can apply for a visa at the Chinese embassy or consulate in the region in which they live. To avoid uncertainty, participants will be advised to apply for a visa as early as possible. It is recommended that they apply for a Chinese visa at least 1 month in advance.

For most attendees, it is easier to apply for a Tourist ("L") visa; an invitation letter is NOT required for obtaining a Tourist visa.

Invitation Letters

 

1. The invitation letter will be issued by the conference committees after the successful registration.


2. Your name must be listed exactly as it appears on your passport. Any differences between the name on your passport and the name on your invitation letter or other documentation could lead to a delay and/or denial of your visa.


3. Please note ICPIE conference and the organizing committees of the conference are not authorized to assist with the VISA process beyond providing the Notification of Invitation Letter issued by ICPIE conference and conference committee board. Should your application be denied, ICPIE Conference and the organizing committee of the conference cannot change the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, nor will ICPIE conference and the organizing committee of the conference engage in discussion or correspondence with the MOFA or the Embassy on behalf of the applicant. The registration fee cannot be refunded when the VISA application of individual being denied.


4. It takes around one month for the Embassy to process the VISA application, please register as early as you can to make sure you have enough time.
